Jazz-trumpet player. For a long time he was the leader of the legendary band Studio 11, and one of the key figures in musical life after the war as a performer.
He was a private pupil of Rudolf Borst between 1938 and 1941 and started his professional career at the end of the '40s. Initially he played at the Arisona Hall, later at the Moulin Rouge and the Palais De Dance. From 1948 he was a trumpet player in, and conductor of, the Hungarian National Radio Dance Orchestra, then in 1963 he co-founded the high profile pop band Studio 11, which he led, together with fellow musician Sándor Dobsa, until his retirement in 1980; he often performed with the band at the San Remo Festival.
From the end of the '70s he often performed as a soloist not only on the trumpet but also on flute, violin and “musical saw”. He gave concerts in many former socialist countries, and also in Switzerland, Italy, Germany, USA, Canada, Cuba, Australia and Brazil. Two of his solo albums were published, Is There a Truer Confession? in 1976 and 21+1 Songs on the Golden Trumpet in 1985. He was a collaborator on almost 20 disks.
