A Hungarian-born Tibor Bogányi is established himself as one of the most interesting and skilled conductor of the young Finnish generation. At the age of 28 he was appointed a chief conductor of the Turku Philharmonic Orchestra. He held this position between 2003 - 2006.
The young conductor has conducted all the major Finnish Orchestras, including the Helsinki Philharmonic Orchestra, the Finnish Radio Symphony Orchestra, the Lahti Symphony Orchestra and the Tampere Philharmonic Orchestra. He has been on stage also with Oulu, Jyväskylä, Kuopio and Vaasa City Orchestras. In addition he has visited as the conductor in Keski-Pohjanmaa Chamber Orchestra, Kymi Sinfonietta and Pori Sinfonietta. He has also conducted several youth orchestras and was the Artistic Director of VIVO Youth Symphony Orchestra for three years.
He has also appeared internationally with orchestras such as the Staatsphilharmonie Rheinland-Pfalz, Orchester National du Capitole de Toulouse, Copenhagen Philharmonic Orchestra, the Mexico State Symphony Orchestra, Macao Symphonic Orhestra, Sanghai Opera, St.Petersburg National Symphony Orchestra, Máv Symphony Orchestra Budabest, Debrecen Philharmonic Orchestra, Oradea Philharmonic Orchestra, Tirgu Mures Philharmonic Orchestra and Savaria Symphony Orchestra.
His repertoire is extremely wide, from symphonic music through large-scale choral works to opera and ballet. He has conducted successful performances of Stravinsky's ballet Le Sacre du Printemps, Bizet's Carmen and Puccini's Tosca. In autumn 2006 he conducted Mozart's Cosi fan tutte at the Finnish National Opera. Two latest conducts were Verdiˇs La Traviata in the beginning of 2009 and Mozartˇs Don Giovanni in the beginning of 2010.
Tibor Bogányi has planned and conducted a unique series of Bela Bartók in 2005, which featured his complete works for the stage and included Blue Beard's Castle, Miraculous Mandarin, Wooden Prince, Concerto for Orchestra, Dance Suite, Violin Concerto and Rhapsodies nos. 1 and 2 violin.
Completing his diploma in cello playing, he went on to study with professor Jorma Panula and professor Leif Segerstam at the famous conductor class of Sibelius Academy. His diploma examination in conducting at the Sibelius Academy was the world premiere of the ballet Hobbit by Aulis Sallinen at the Finnish National Opera. He has also studied with professor Janos Fürst at the Paris Conservatoire. He has fullfilled his concucting skills with Sir Colin Davies and Juri Simonov.
Tibor Bogányi won the 2 nd place in Professor Jorma Panula's International Conducting Contest in 1999. As a cellist he has won the Leo Weiner - competition in the year 1996 and the Kuhmo International Trio - competition in the year 1999. Tibor Bogányi still appear on the stage as a Cellist.
