Graduated from the Ferenc Liszt Academy of Music, Budapest. In 1965 he was awarded first prize at the Budapest International Flute competition and became first flutist and soloist of the Hungarian State Symphony Orchestra. Since 1968 he has also been a professor at the Ferenc Liszt Academy of Music, and was awarded with the Liszt Award (1972), the Merited Artist (1983) and the Ferencsik Ring (1991). He has given acclaimed guest performances throughout Europe and Asia, especially in Japan, where he was invited guest professor of the Musashino Music Academy Tokyo for many years.
