István Rózsa was born in Budapest in 1973, and started playing the trumpet at age of 9. Two years later he won first prize at the a III. Lubik Imre Trumpet Competition in Budapest and Special Prize in Zalaegerszeg. István has begun studying tuba at the age of 17. A native of Budapest, he studied at the Liszt Ferenc Academy of Music, receiving the Bachelor of Music degree with the Performer's Certificate in 1999. He experiments playing the tuba in different musical styles. He has performed as a member of various major symphony orchestras, both in Hungary and abroad (Marcato Ensemble, Budapest Jazz Orchestra, Alba Regia Symphony Orchestra, Duna Symphony Orchestra).
