József Gábor graduated from the Ferenc Liszt Academy of Music, Budapest in 1969 where his piano professor was Kornél Zempléni. Since 1970 he was active as a piano teacher and accompanist in Győr. In 1972 he became director of the secondary music school in Győr, then he was the director of the Music Teachers' Training College (Institute of Music, University István Széchenyi) from 1987. In his capacity as a chamber musician and piano accompanist he gave concerts in Hungary and abroad on a regular basis. He was well-versed in the flute-, violin-, clarinet and song literature and the steady accompanist of the world famous Girls' Choir of Győr. He died in 2017 in Budapest.
