Zoltán Bátki Fazekas was born in Szeged in November 1968. In 1991 he received a diploma as a voice teacher, then in 1995 as a singer-teacher from the Liszt Ferenc College of Music. In 1997 he received a diploma cum laude as an opera singer from the Budapest Academy of Music. He won second prize in the 1991 National Mozart Voice Competition. In 2001 he received the Artisjus award. In 2004 he won third prize in the International Hungarian Art Song Competition. From September 2004 he has been a student at the department of public education management at the University of Szeged. Since 1993 he has been teaching at the Hódmezővásárhely Music School. From 1998 for a year he was an opera singer with the Csokonai Theatre of Debrecen, from 1999 he has been an opera singer with the Szeged National Theatre. Since 1998 he has appeared regularly in the Hungarian State Opera House. He has sung in Germany and the Netherlands and made a successful debut in the US.
