He started to learn to play the violin at the age of nine, first with József Szelényi, later with Ilona Hubert, followed by studies with Ferenc Halász at the Franz Liszt Academy of Music in Budapest, where he obtained his diploma in 1970. In addition to being for 21 years member of the Symphony Orchestra of the Hungarian Radio, he played regularly in different chamber orchestras (Franz Liszt Chamber Orchestra, Concenctus Hungaricus, Nicolaus Esterházy Sinfonia, where he held the post of concert-master) and as a guest artist in the Luxembourg based orchestra "European Soloists". Since 1992 he has been member of the Budapest Festival Orchestra.
