András Szabó was born in 1978 into a musical family: his father is professor of the Franz Liszt Music Academy, his mother is violincellist of the Budapest State Opera House. Between 1992-96 he attended the Béla Bartók Musical Secondary School. In 1997 he was admitted to the Franz Liszt Music Academy of Budapest, his teacher was Ferenc Tarjáni. He was prize winner at several international music competitions (Munich, Markneukirchen, Beijing) and attended master-classes of Peter Damm, Timothy Jones, Frank Lloyd, David Jolley, Eyal Vilner and Eric Terwilliger. In October 2001 he became member of the Budapest Festival Orchestra.
