Ernõ Kiss obtained his diploma at the Franz Liszt Music Academy of Budapest in 1971. Between 1971 and 1986 he was member of the Miskolc Symphony Orchestra and played also in the piano trio and string quartett formed of its members. In 1986 he moved to Budapest, where he became concert-master of the MÁV Symphony Orchestra, a post he held until 1992, when he joined the Budapest Festival Orchestra, whose member he has been ever since.
