Founding musician of the Budapest Festival Orchestra, Judit Bende obtained her diploma at the prestigious Franz Liszt Academy of Music in Budapest, where her professors included, among others, Pál Lukács, András Mihály, György Kurtág and Albert Simon. She was still student of the Academy, when she became member of the Hungarian State Symphony Orchestra. She was also member of several other musical formations and groups, such as Vilmos Tátrai's Hungarian Chamber Orchestra, András Mihály's Chamber Orchestra, the New Musical Studio and later of the Hungarian Virtuosi Chamber Orchestra. Ms.Bende, who was for five years teaching viola at the Béla Bartók Musical Secondary School of Budapest, has been since 1992 member of the viola section of the Budapest Festival Orchestra. She has two sons (19 and 22 years old) and is married to the violinist Tamás Szabó.
