István Biller, founding choirmaster and artistic director of the Budafok Chamber Choir, received degrees in pedagogy (violin, music theory, vocal) and in choral conducting at the Ferenc (Franz) Liszt Music Academy in 1970 and 1975. He even played the trombone in the Wind Ensemble of the Zrinyi Miklos Military Academy at one time. He has taught violin for three decades, and has also taught music theory, music literature, solfege, voice, and chamber music. Other than the Budafok Chamber Choir, he has been choirmaster and artistic director of another womens choir, three mens choirs, and a chamber orchestra. His choirs have won numerous awards. Some thirty-two composers have dedicated works to his ensembles, which have premiered seventy-eight compositions both inside and outside Hungary.
