Kolonits Klára
voice - soprano
She began her music studies privately, under the direction of Katalin Schultz. In 1995 she received a diploma from the voice department of the Teacher Training Institute of the Liszt Ferenc Academy of Music where her teacher was Zsuzsa Forrai. Later she continued her studies under Ionel Pantea and Anne Reynolds.
In 1995-97 she was a member of the Csokonai Theatre of Debrecen, in 1997-98 (as a guest artist) of the Szeged National Theatre and the Szigligeti Theatre of Szolnok, then in 1998-2001 she was a member of the Budapest Operetta Theatre, and from 2002 soloist of the Hungarian State Opera House.
In 1997 she won second place in the 3rd Budapest International Singing Competition and the special prize in the Italian Toti dal Monte Singing Competition. In 2000 she won first place and special prize in the Hungarian Radio Singing Competition and in 2003 she won second place and special prize in the International Haydn Singing Competition.
Her main roles are: Countess (The Marriage of Figaro), Donna Anna (Don Giovanni), Fiordiligi (Cosi fan tutte), Mimi (La Bohème), Judit (Bluebeard’s Castle). She has made guest appearances in Austria, the Netherlands, France and the United States. She regularly appears as a soloist in contemporary and classical oratorios.
