György Forgó was born in 1963 in Körmend. He graduated from the Ferenc Liszt University of Music in 1986, where his teachers were Árpád Bodó (1977-81), Imre Rohmann (1981-86) and Lóránt Szűcs (chamber music, 1981-86). He studied with Professor Amadeus Webersinke in Drezden as a state scholarship student then he attended master courses held by György Sebők and Andor Földes. Presently he is the head piano teacher at the High School of Arts in Pécs. He is an active figure of the Pécs music scene. He regularly gives solo and chamber music concerts both in Hungary and abroad.
