Born in Budapest, Gergely Kuklis began playing the violin at the age of five and first studied at the Béla Bartók Conservatory. From 1991 to 1996 he studied at the Ferenc Liszt Academy of Music Budapest where his teachers included Béla Bánfalvi, Ferenc Rados and, for chamber music, Géza Németh. He also undertook masterclasses with Dénes Kovács and Tibor Varga.

Already in 1992 Kuklis joined the Budapest Festival Orchestra under Ivan Fischer and in 1997 became concert-master of the Hungarian Concert Orchestra. Since 2000 he has been concert-master of the Hungarian National Philharmonic Orchestra and has worked with many world-class conductors and undertaken tours across four continents. Chamber orchestras with which Kuklis works include the Hungarian Virtuosi, the Sir George Solti and Ferenc Liszt Chamber Orchestras and the Camerata Academica Salzburg.

A wide-ranging musician, Kuklis is also a member of the Concerto Armonico Baroque Ensemble and he has made many CD and DVD recordings. He teaches violin privately in Budapest.
