Henrik Prőhle was born in 1936 in Bratislava and completed his studies in Budapest with Zoltán Jeney and Ferenc Hartai receiving his diploma in 1961. He was a member of the Budapest Concert Orchestra between 1957 and 1961, since 1961 he has been a memeber of the Orchestra of the Hungarian State Opera. From 1965 till 1996 he was the principal flutist of the Opera Orchestra and the Budapest Philharmonic Orchestra. He has given numerous concerts throughout Europe as a soloist and as a chamber musician. Since 1967 he has been a teacher as well. He tought in Győr for 8 years and has been professor at the Ferenc Liszt Academy of Music since 1975.
