Papp Sándor

Sándor Papp guitarist was born in 1965. He started his studies of music as a pupil of András Tüske and later as a student of István Androvicz and István Papp in the Zoltán Kodály Secondary School of Music Art at Debrecen, afterwards he took a degree in arts and education at the Bratislava Academy of Music in 2007 as a student of Josef Zsapka.
He has participated in Greece, Spain, Bohemia and Slovakia in several master classes of outstanding masters as Roberto Aussel, Wolfgang Lendle, David Russel, Alirio Diaz and Gianfranco Volpato.
In 1990 he was qualified for the final of the international guitar contest in Paris. He has given concerts in several countries (Slovakia, Spain, Germany, Italy, France, Poland, Dania, United Kingdom, Australia, Mexico). In 1998 he made a concert tour in Australia and was chairman of the jury for the guitar competition held in Adelaide.
Hungarian world premieres of guitar concerts are linked with his name e. g. L. Letlier (Chilean) and R. Charlton (Australian) composers' works as well as Nuovo Capriccio by István Szigeti. He regulary gives concerts and courses in Hungary and abroad too. He is the artistic director of the International Guitar Week of Encs and the International Guitarfestival Gyöngyös. He is a member of Nobilart Association. He was a founder of Debrecen Guitarquartet. He was a teacher of the guitar at Béla Bartók Secondary School of Music Art.
From 1991 until 2019 he was an art-teacher at Béla Bartók Music Institue of Miskolc University and from 2019 he has been the director of the Institute.
