Mercedes Heim graduated as a pupil of Melánia Rosner in singing and solfeggio at the teacher training faculty of the Franz Liszt College in 1991 and in 1999, obtained her performing diploma, graduating from Júlia Pászthy's class. For several years, she was a member of the Hungarian Radio Choir. In the summer of 1999, she won a scholarship from the Richard Wagner Association to be a guest at the Beyreuth Festival and in 2000, gained an Eötvös scholarship from the Hungarian state, enabling her to study at Anne Reynold's private school near Bayreuth. She is currently studying with Katalin Schultz. Her broad repertoire embraces most of the best known oratorio repertoire as well as orchestral song cycles and dramatic mezzo soprano roles from opera. As an alto soloist, she has performed in Austria, Germany, France, Italy and the Czech Republic. In February 2002, she enjoyed a great success when she stepped in at short notice for a performance of Sándor Szokolay's opera Vérnász at the Szeged National Theatre, where she played the role of Mother.
