Mezzo Katalin Várkonyi completed her studies at the Franz Liszt Music Academy in 1994. She appeared in productions at the Bastille Opera from 1995 (Carmen, Marriage of Figaro) and in 1998, entered the Paris Conservatoire to undertake further studies with José van Dam. She also attended masterclasses by Christa Ludwig. Katalin Várkonyi has worked in French speaking countries, with distinguished French conductors and theatre directors.
