Kornél Mikecz was born in 1979 and in 1990 joined the Hungarian Radio Childrens Choir. From 1995, he attended the composition faculty at the St Stephens Music College, where he began vocal training in 1997 with Judit Adrigán. In 2002, he was admitted to the teacher training faculty of the Franz Liszt Music University where his teacher is Magda Nádor. He has entered several competitions, winning the special prize for the best performance of a folksong at the Jenő Ádám Song Competition in 1999. He was runner up at the Mihály Székely Competition in 2001 and winner of the inaugural National Music College Competition in 2001 where he also won a prize for best Schubert performer. He has attended masterclasses by W. Moore, G. Lutz, Mitzuko Shirai and Éva Marton.
