Farkas Gábor

The young pianist Gábor Farkas was born in Ózd in 1981. He began studying the piano at the age of five; his teacher at the Ferenc Erkel Ózd music school was Ágnes Szabó Szakáts. In 1999 he graduated from the Miskolc Béla Bartók Music College where he studied with Gábor Papp. He is currently in his fifth year at the Franz Liszt University, where his teachers are Sándor Falvai and Attila Némethy. He has won prizes at several Hungarian competitions (the Békes-Tarhosi National Piano Competition, the Ándor Földes Piano Competition, the Franz Liszt International Piano Competition.) He also won second prize at the Karlstad Greta Erikson International Piano Competition in Sweden. His greatest success so far, however, has been his first prize at the Hungarian Radio International Piano Competition. Gábor Farkas has attended masterclasses conducted by György Nádor, László Simon, Péter Frankl, Rolf Dieter Arens, Jan Wijn, Brigitte Engerer, Ferenc Rados and William Grant Nabore.
