Soprano Ildikó Cserna was born in Budapest in 1974. She graduated from the Franz Liszt Music Academy in singing in 1998 and opera in 2000. She won first prizes at both the Jenő Ádám National song competition in 1994, and the 1997 Tomaz Alcaide International Singing Competition (at Estremoz). In 1999 she was awarded the Artisjus prize for her work premiering and popularising contemporary Hungarian music. From the opera repertoire, she is primarily renowned for her Mozart and Verdi roles. She also won an Annie Fischer scholarship.
