Atilla B. Kiss made his debut in Cluj, Romania in 1992, and completed his studies at the Georg Dima Music Academy. He initially took on lyric roles, but gradually turned his attention to spinto and dramatic parts. His first great success in Hungary was in the title role of Don Carlos. He excels in the Italian repertoire, and was a superb Pinkerton, Cavaradossi, Rodolf, Done Jose as well as Turiddu, the Prince of Mantua, Radames, Alvaro and Macduff. He first sang Erkel's Bánk Ban a few years ago to great acclaim, and will be seen in Csaba Káel's 2002 opera film, along with Éva Marton and Andrea Rost. This year, he was awarded the Liszt Prize. He is also committed to performing the work of living composers, and has worked with Szokolay, Ránki, Bozay and Petrovics. In 2023 he was awarded with the Hungarian State Opera House Master Artist Award.
