Percussionist, pianist, organist, harpsichordist, conductor and composer Gábor Kósa was born in 1950 in Budapest. He studied at the Ferenc Liszt Academy of Music, Budapest and the Hochschule für Musik und Darstellende Kunst, Stuttgart. His career as a performing artist, soaring up unbrokenly since 1975, has started as a percussion and fortepiano soloist of the National Philharmonic Orchestra; later the keyboard instruments began to play an increasingly important role in his career. He specializes in song accompaniment, improvisation, continuo and the organ parts of orchestral works. He has made more than forty recordings (Hungaroton, Naxos). He performs regularly and has received much critical acclaim in Hungary and abroad.
His composing career started at the New Musical Studio. A versatile composer interested in experimental music, many of his works have been published by Editio Musica Budapest.
