Gabriella Thész graduated from the Franz Liszt Academy of Music in Budapest, Hungary in 1973 with degrees in Music Education, Choral Conducting and piano. Her teachers were Erzsébet Szőnyi, Zoltán Vásárhely and István Párkai. At the same time, she graduated from the teaching faculty as well. Since then, her career has been characterised by both teaching and choir conducting. She is also been active teaching abroad: in1976 she was a visiting faculty member for an academic year at the Kodály Musical Training Institute in Wellesley, Massachusetts, USA; in addition she also taught solfege at the New England Conservatory of Music in Boston. In 1988 she was a visiting faculty member in the Holy Names College Kodály Program. Gabriella Thész has taught and conducted workshop both in Hungary and abroad (America, Australia, Europe). In 1991 and 1995, she was invited by the National Children’s Choir to attend the Kodály Teacher’s Conference in San Francisco and Columbus Ohio. She has been a jury member at international competitions. From 1975 to 1994, he taught at the teacher training faculty of the Franz Liszt Academy, and since 1992 has taught choir conducting. Since 1985 she has conducted the Hungarian Radio Children’s Choir and in 1995, she was appointed its resident conductor.
