Zoltán Onczay was born in 1979 in Budapest, Hungary. His family heritage has deeps roots in music performance. His primary mentor and professional guidance comes from his father, world renowned cellist, Csaba Onczay.

Over the years, Mr. Onczay's family has influenced his dedication, training and studies as a cellist. He began his cello studies when he was six years old and continued at the Bartók Conservatory of Music in Budapest, Hungary until 1997. From 1997 he was a student at the Liszt Ferenc University of Music in Budapest, Hungary.

His other interests include: language studies, multiple water sports, traveling and computer programming. Presently, Mr. Onczay lives and studies in Berlin, Germany and in Budapest.
