Born in 1937, in Répceszemere, West Hungary. After his piano studies, which he started at the age of 5, he graduated as conductor and composer from Liszt Ferenc Music Academy in Budapest in 1960. In 1959 he won first prize at the World Youth Festival in Vienna.
In 1962 he founded Savaria Symphony Orchestra in Szombathely and acted as its Music Director and Principal Conductor until 1991. He has also worked as an Artistic Director of Savaria Music Weeks. Guest Conductor at International Bartók Seminar and Festival, and as member of the Jury at the International Competition for Conductors organised by the Hungarian Television. He has conducted several orchestras world-wide, such as the Radio Television orchestra (Dublin), Lawton Philharmonic Orchestra (Lawton), Johnstown Symphony (Johnstown, PA) and Saint John Symphony Orchestra in Canada. He has been a permanent guest conductor of the Hungarian State Opera House, the Slovakian Philharmonic Orchestra (Bratislava), the Radio and Television Orchestra (Ljubjana) and the Grazer Opernhaus (Austria). With the Savaria Symphony Orchestra he has performed widely in France, the Netherlands, Luxembourg, Italy, Switzerland, Austria, Germany, former Czechoslovakia, Romania and the ex-USSR, and introduced numerous new pieces on world premiere. He has made a number of recordings for Hungaroton and Presse Records (Austria).
