Armand Tóth was born in Kaposvár (Hungary) in the 10th of November, 1955. He graduated from Liszt Ferenc Academy of Music in Budapest (Hungary) majoring flute and choir leading. He studied conducting at the Institue For People's Education in Hungary and in Weimar (Germany) at masters courses of Kurt Masur and Max Pommer, and Julius Kalmar at Ottorino Respighi Academy in Rome (Italy). His professors were Jenő Keuler, Melinda Kistétényi, Máté Hollós and Attila Bozay.
He began his career at the Hungarian State Opera (1977-1986) and continued as the director of symphonic orchestras and the conductor of opera and ballet performances for various theatres in Nagykanizsa, Kaposvár (Csiky Gergely Theatre) and Budapest (Vörösmarty Művelődési Ház, Budapest, 1989). Since 1989 he has been the managing director of the Hungarian Musical Performers' Society (MAZET). He is also a member of the Hungarian Composers' Association - the classical music section of Artisjus Hungarian Association for Copyright Protection.
He is the founder of Gaudium Wind Band (1990). He was the musical director of the National Theater Miskolc between 1992 and 1998. He established in 1997 the Erzsébet Sinfonietta Symphonic Band and Oratorio Choir. He has been the artistic consultant of the Ferencváros Summer Festial from 1997.
He has conducted orchestras in many countries of Europe. As a composer, he also made guest apperances in Japan, Austria and the United States. His compositions have received several prizes in Hungarian and international music competitions. Since 2000 he has been taking part regularly in the International László Lajtha Musical Festival and Masters Course Kőszeg. Since 2004 he is the musical consultant of "My Opera".
As a composer he has been taking part regularly in the contemporary concert series of Fészek Artist Club Budapest and the Hungarian Radio. He composes not only chamber music pieces, songs and solo compositions, but operas, oratorios, symphonic and choir pieces too. In the past few years he also performed as a flautist.
