The vocal and instrumental ensemble Corvina Consort seeks to present to the modern audience the music of the past ages. The ensemble’s repertoire spans five centuries of vocal and instrumental sacred and secular music. Corvina Consort endeavors to give authentic renderings of these works. As on the present recording, the group seeks to present church music and cycles embedded in the liturgical context. The members of Corvina Consort are young musicians who perform extensively in Hungary and abroad, also with other early music ensembles, and have contributed to many a radio, television broadcast and CD recording. Most of the programs in the repertoire of the vocal and instrumental ensemble Corvina Consort were Hungarian premieres, many of which were recorded by the Hungarian Radio. Their first CD recording was made from the program of their concert series of Orlando di Lasso’s works. The album was given much attention on account of the fact that Corvina Consort premiered the pieces internationally. They have won international acclaim, and many critiques were published about it. Among others, it was awarded the Choc Prize of Le Monde de la Musique in October 1999. Corvina Consort made its debut on the international concert scene in summer 2000, performing at the Uckermärkische Musikwoche in Germany, and at the IYAP events of the Festival van Vlaanderen – Laus Polyphoniae 2000 in Antwerp. They gave successful concerts within the frame of the Hungarian Season in Italy, in 2002.
