This is the Artist Database of BMC, which includes information about composers, musicians, orchestras, choirs and groups that are either Hungarian or Hungarian by origin or live in Hungary, as well as information about releases recorded with them.

Kállai String Quartet was founded in 2009 as Nyári Quartet. In 2015 the quartet was renewed by Ernő Kállai, Géza Szajkó, Kálmán Dráfi and István Balázs as Kállai String Quartet. With Géza Szajkó (second violinist), Kálmán Dráfi (violist), and István Balázs (cellist), all graduates from the Liszt Academy, they made their debut concert in 2015 at the Solti Hall of the Franz Liszt Music Academy including works by Haydn, Bartók, and Dohnányi.

They has won several music competiton. The Kállai Quartet was the first pirze winner of the Leo Weiner Chamber Music Competition in 2016, and second prize winner of the Societa Umanitaria International Music Competition in Milano in 2015. They won the special award of the 21. International Johannes Brahms Chamber Orchestra Competition in Pörtschach.

They play works by Haydn, Mozart, Brahms and other classical composers as well compositions of contemporary composers like Dohnányi, Weinerig, Bartók or Kodály. They have played in venues such as Liszt Academy of Music, FUGA, Erkel Theater, Palace of Arts, MOM Cultural Center, Marble Hall of Hungarian Radio. They often play in festivals (Auer Festival, Zemplén Festival, Quartettissimo Festival, Budapeset Quartet Weekend Festival), and they have worked together with artists like János Balázs, József Balog, Gergely Bogányi, János Palojtay, János Devich and Gábor Takács-Nagy.
