Fekete-Kovács Quintet
Orchestra, choir, ensemble
Formed
2005
This band came together for the first time in the autumn of 2005, for making a recording, for a movie called Better halves by Péter László. This quartet (Viktor Hárs – bass, András Dés – percussion, Gábor Cseke – piano and Kornél Fekete-Kovács – trumpet,), a half year later was joined by Szabolcs Oláh on guitar.
In October of 2006, after playing several festivals and concerts, Gábor Cseke and Kálmán Oláh switched places at the piano, the Fekete-Kovács Quintet has been playing with him since then. The repertoire is mainly based on Kornél's compositions.
The world of their music is kind of like a wry, “European” way of mainstream jazz, in which besides the composing and arranging, interaction and spontaneous improvisation take a big part too.
