The Pécs Zoltán Kodály Youth Mixed Choir was founded 25 years ago in the Pécs Zoltán Kodály Secondary School.
First it was founded as Kodály Vocal, a chamber choir and as the number of boys joining the choir increased the choir reached a total of about 50-55. The members of the choir are students of the Spanish bilingual class, the special music class and the social sciences class of Zoltán Kodály Secondary School. The choir has always received the Golden Qualification at the Singing Youth Competitions and has won the Choir of the Year title five times and appears on Hungarian Radio on a regular basis. It has successfully participated at the Szolnok International Kodály Competition several times. It has had memorable performances on its international tours in Slovenia, Germany, Slovakia, Romania, Denmark, Switzerland, Italy and France.
In Keszthely at the National Student Days it has won the first prize and the festival prize several times and at the last competition it was awarded the main prize. It has achieved success in several towns of Transylvania and at the Cluj Church Music Festival.
In 1999 at the Budapest International Choir Competition it was awarded the Golden Diploma, in 2000 at the Debrecen Béla Bartók International Choir Festival it was awarded the second prize and at the Zoltán Kodály 2nd Hungarian Choral Competition after having won the first prize within its own category it received the Grand Prix of the whole festival. In 2001 in Celje (Slovenia) it won the 1st prize and the Golden Diploma in the mixed choir category.
