Pécsi Bartók Béla Leánykar
Orchestra, choir, ensemble
The Pécs Béla Bartók Girls Choir was formed in 1973 from girls attending the local music secondary school. It currently is based at the Pécs Zoltán Kodály Secondary School. The choirs principal focus is the encouragement of 20th and 21st century Hungarian choral music, which includes quality performances of the works of Bartók and Kodály. They have performed in virtually all the countries of Europe and at international festivals and won twenty one prizes. As a member of the Eurofestivalchor, in recent years they have taken part in superb performances of Stravinskys Symphony of Psalms and Bartóks Cantata Profana. The choir is led by its founding director Attila Kertész.
