The Hungarian Cello Orchestra was formed in 1996 from the members of the leading symphony orchestras in Budapest
(the Hungarian State Opera, Budapest Philharmonic Orchestra, National Philharmonic Orchestra, Hungarian Radio Symphony Orchestra, Dohnányi Symphony Orchestra) along with professors of the Liszt Ferenc Academy of Music and the Bartók Béla Conservatory of Music.
Since their formation they have given numerous concerts and they play regularly at the Budapest Spring Festival. All concerts were broadcasted by the Hungarian State Radio as well as the Hungarian National Television. Since 1999 the concerts were broadcasted also by the EBU ( European Broadcasting Union ) therefore these events were in the air in the whole European region.
In February of 2000 the Hungarian Cello Orchestra - in organisation of the Hungarian Cultural Ministry - has given a concert on the International Winter Festival in Sarajevo. The concert was broadcasted by the National TV of Bosnia-Hercegovina.
