Eötvös’s thirteenth opera is the first written in Hungarian.

Libretto by Mari Mezei and Kinga Keszthelyi, based on László Krasznahorkai’s novel "The Melancholy of Resistance", which also served as the inspiration for Béla Tarr’s film "Werckmeister Harmonies".
