Remarks, other info
"I was led to the music of Domenico Scarlatti by Gabriel Garcia Márquez. In his novel Love and Other Demons, he notes that Scarlatti teaches music to the young heroine Sierva’s mother. I was so taken by the idea of this story that I went and played through all five hundred and fiftyfive of his sonatas; I was unable to tear myself away from this sensitive and dramatic music. I integrated a number of passages into one of the arias in my opera. Hommage à Domenico Scarlatti is an arrangement of this aria in which the tenor line is taken by a solo horn." Peter Eötvös
