Gölles Martin
Composer
Martin Gölles was born in 1994 in Nagykanizsa. He started playing the piano at the age of eight at the local Farkas Ferenc Music School.
In 2017 he graduated from the Faculty of Arts of the University of Tartu as a choral conductor and in 2020 he will study vocal music with Prof. Dr. Tamás Lakner. Currently she is a first-year doctoral student at the Doctoral School of Arts of the University of Pécs. Since his university years, he has been the assistant choirmaster and piano accompanist of the Benedek Virág Youth Mixed Faculty of the Batthyány Lajos High School in Nagykanizsa, and cantor of the Evangelical Church of Szepetnek. As a member of the University Choir of Pécs and the Béla Bartók Male Choir, he has performed in several countries. As a composer, he has written pieces for Hungarian and foreign ensembles, and his compositions include works for choir, chamber orchestra and solo instrument. His oratorio Messe de la Joie was premiered in Dijon, France, and in the Vézelay Basilica in the summer of 2019; in 2020, his choral work on the poem A négyökrös szekér (The Four-wheeled Chariot) by Sándor Petőfi was awarded a prize at the MÜPA Music Competition; he works continuously with the Swiss chamber orchestra Quintette Bourgogne, and his works are regularly performed in the ensemble's repertoire.
