Bucz Magor
Composer
Composer Magor Bucz was born on 25 January 1994 in Budapest. He is currently a doctoral student and teaching demonstrator at the Liszt Ferenc Academy of Music, a freelance editor and reporter for Bartók Radio, and the artistic director of the Óbuda Square Theatre.
In 2019, she graduated from the Master of Music Composition course at the Academy of Music as a student of Gyula Fekete, and also studied music education at the same institution. For six months he was a participant in the composition program at the Santa Cecilia Conservatorio in Rome in the class of Prof. Riccardo Riccardi. In 2018, he received the Neszlényi Andor Award of the Liszt Academy of Music, which was awarded for the most outstanding composition of the academic year. He is an active participant in the concert scene in Hungary and has also given numerous performances abroad (England, Italy, Philippines, South Korea, Iceland, Hong Kong, Romania, Slovenia, Slovakia, Singapore). In addition to his concert life, he is also active as a theatre (Hungarian Theatre of Pest, Petőfi Theatre of Sopron, Theatre on the Square) and film composer, his latest film work is the Hungarian Passion, which will be released in 2021.
He considers himself a composer who builds on classical values and is open-minded towards the many trends of so-called serious and so-called light music. He believes in the fusion of seemingly distant styles from a classical point of view, not only out of a desire to experiment, but also because he sees it as a guarantee for the survival of classical music culture. He believes that contemporary composers with a classical education can play a new and important role in this mission.
