Kedves Csanád
Composer
Csanád Kedves was born in 1983 in Csíkszereda. He began his musical studies in his hometown, majoring in piano, and also studied fine arts until the age of 14.
From 1999 he studied composition at the Béla Bartók and Leó Weiner Secondary School of Music in Budapest. Between 2005 and 2010 he studied composition at the Franz Liszt Academy of Music, where his main teacher was Zsolt Serei. During this period, he was an active participant as a composer and student in the Bartók Seminar and Festival in Szombathely, where he attended courses taught by Zoltán Jeney and Gyula Csapó. Since 2011 he has been a recipient of the Zoltán Kodály Music Composition Scholarship.
He is an active participant in Budapest's contemporary music scene. In 2013, together with Judit Rajk, Máté Balogh and Péter Tornyai, he founded the contemporary music workshop CentriFUGA at the FUGA Budapest Architecture Center, which has since hosted dozens of premieres of contemporary Hungarian music. In addition to pieces by young Hungarian composers, works by György Kurtág, László Vidovszky, Zoltán Jeney, Zsolt Serei, Balázs Horváth, Gyula Csapó and Marcell Dargay among others are also regularly performed. On these occasions he participates as both composer and conductor.
Since May 2015 he has also been a member of the Hermina Gallery creative group. He has presented his works on numerous stages, has influenced the musical life of Budapest and Bucharest, and, last but not least, he currently composes at the request of the most outstanding performers and contemporary theaters.
He is also a prominent figure in Transylvania's contemporary music scene. He regularly organizes concerts across the border, where he performs works by both Hungarian and Romanian composers.
In 2025 he received the Artisjus Performing Artist Award.
