Csillag Péter (Pierre)

Péter Csillag (Pierre) was born on June 28, 1938, in Budapest. He began his musical studies at the Bartók Béla Secondary School of Music in Budapest, studying piano with Klára R. Chitz and composition with Rezső Sugár.
In 1956, he emigrated to France. He was admitted to the Conservatoire in Paris, where his piano teacher was Vlado Perlemuter and he studied conducting with Eugène Bigot. Later, he participated in advanced conducting masterclasses with Alexandre Siranossian.
He received his degree in electrical engineering in 1965, followed by a doctoral engineering qualification in 1969 from the ENSEEIHT technical university in Toulouse, where he continued his scientific and teaching career until 2004, first as an assistant professor and later as an associate professor.
Meanwhile, he gradually returned to his musical path. For 22 years, he conducted the University Orchestra of Toulouse and played piano with the Toulouse Capitole Orchestra. He performed in concerts as an accompanist, soloist, and chamber musician. His works are performed on several continents.
