Since the age of fourteen he’s been interested in composing. First he taught himself as autodidact and then from 1969 he took lessons from György Geszler in the music school of the 11th district, primarily in study of harmony. Parallel to this he visited the Pálné Veress Secondary School, where he was member of the school choir conducted by Gábor Ugrin. After final examination he applied to the Miklós Ybl Technical College of Building Industry where he studied architecture and he continued his music studies only in 1975 with Pál Károlyi. From 1976 he visited the composing lessons of István Fekete Győr and other music subjects in the Secondary School for Music for two years. After succesful admission to the Ferenc Liszt Academy of Music he was pupil of József Soproni. His diploma concert took place in November 1984, together with Géza Gémesi and Miklós Mohay.

In 1985 he received the Albert Szirmai Prize and until 1991 he had received further creative scholarships (Eötvös, Kodály, Soros). During this period he had composed many chamber works. At the Hungarian Radio’s review of contemporary music, his trio „Divertimento” was awarded with the special prize of the Hungarian Association of Musicians. His work „Seasons” was a request of the Hungarian Radio, while the string orchestral piece „Rhapsody” a request of the Music Found. All three works - with further eight compositions - were also presented as a radio recording („Z”).

In 1997 he won the competition by the Budapest Autumn Festival with his chamber work „In memoriam D.ZS.”, which was presented by László Tihanyi and his ensemble the same year in October.

Since 1996 he’s been member of the Association of Composers as well as of the Society of Creative Musicians. In 2001 he received an order for ceremonial music on occasion of the bridge-opening in Esztergom. The first performance was in May 2001. In recent years, vocal compositions dominate in his oeuvre.
