Lajos Hollós, composer, radio music editor, was born on 25 February 1923 in Budafok, Hungary. Between 1949 and 1953 he was a pupil of Zoltán Vásárhelyi, Endre Szervánszky and Bence Szabolcsi at the Liszt Ferenc Academy of Music in Budapest. During the same period he studied folk music with László Lajtha.
From 1949 he worked in various positions, including as a music lecturer at the Ministry of Culture (1949-51) and as the head of the music department (1951-53), and finally as music editor at Hungarian Radio from 1956 until his retirement in 1986. His works include choral works, pieces for wind orchestra and chamber music for wind instruments.
