Aurél Holló is one of the most versatile personalities of the Hungarian music scene. He is a member of the Amadinda percussion ensemble, but has also played at concerts of Gábor Presser, the Festival Orchestra, the jazz-rock formation Tea, arranged for Zorán and written music for animated films. By his own admission, the active and parallel cultivation of different musical genres creates for him the balance that is necessary for creation and constant renewal.
After his basic musical studies, he studied percussion at the Győr Conservatory with László Váray and composition with Attila Reményi, and then graduated from the Budapest Academy of Music in both subjects between 1984 and 1992.
During this period, he joined various contemporary music ensembles (Intermodulation, Compensemble) and in 1988 he joined Tea, a jazz-rock group of young talents. The Tea era was completed in 1991 with an invitation from the percussion group Amadinda.
In addition to his role in Amadinda, Aurél has been a percussion teacher at the Budapest Conservatory since 1996 and has been involved in a number of musical projects, partly with Amadinda and partly independently, as a composer, arranger, percussionist or musical director. He has composed symphonic overtures with Gábor Presser, orchestrated for Zorán, composed music for animated films by Géza M. Tóth and has also worked as a music director for Sándor Sasvári's recording Moments.
His work as a member of the Amadinda ensemble was recognised with the Kossuth Prize in 2004.
Awards:
2004 - shared Kossuth Prize as a member of the Amadinda Ensemble
2008 - shared Bartók-Pásztory Prize as a member of the Amadinda
