He was born in Kupino, a siberian town in Russia (Soviet Union). He started learning music at the age of 9. He left the Secondary Music-School of Novosibirsk in 1971 with distinction in the faculty of music theory and history. In 1977 he graduated from Rimsky-Korsakov Academy of Music in St. Petersburg (Leningrad) with the highest distinction. He studied composition from teachers like Orest Yevlakhow and Boris Tishtchenko.
Marriage brought him to Hungary in 1977. He was teaching in the Liszt Ferenc Academy of Music and also in the Bartók Béla Secondary Music-School. He was an acknoledged member of the Young Composers' Group and the Hungarian Composers' Union. In 1998 he was awarded the Erkel Prize.
The majority of his works belongs to chamber music while his orchestral works do show the best virtues of the Russian school of orchestration.
