Violinist, student of Jenő Hubay. He had very successful concerts in Europe and in the USA. In 1929 he was appointed as a teacher at the Ferenc Liszt Music Academy Budapest. From 1943 to 1957 he was the general director of the Music Academy. He travelled to Vienna in 1956 and later to the USA in 1957, where he was the violin teacher of the Indiana University in Bloomington. He was one of the best violinists of his generation in the post Hubay’s era. He is mainly known as a performer of modern (Bartók) and romantic violin repertoire. He acquired great merits as an educator as well.
