Szilvia Kárászy studied at the colleges of music in Budapest and Freiburg. Since 1991 she has also been active as a composer. Her unusual concert programmes are selected with the aim of eliminating the borderlines between different genres and styles. She is a universal creative artist: literature, spectacle and special sound effects all play an important part in her music. In 1998 she established the Fazioli Piano Festival and is its artistic director.

She died at the age of 62 in the 22nd of February, 2023.
