Soprano Orsolya Sáfár was born in Zalaegerszeg. She graduated from the Budapest Franz Liszt University in 2004 where she studied with Erika Sziklay and Emese Virág.

She has attended masterclasses by Ralf Döring, Katalin Halmai, Júlia Hamari, Éva Marton, Yevgeny Nesterenko, Anna Reynolds and Bernd Weikl. She has won prizes at a number of Hungarian and international singing competitions, for example taking third prize at the Szombathely International Joseph Haydn Aria Competition where she won the special prize of the Szombathely Symphony Orchestra.

Her early career was helped by a number of scholarships: the Zalaegerszeg City Artists Scholarship 2001/2002, Republic Scholarship 2003/2004, ARTISJUS prize 2003, the Budapest Parsifal Foundation Scholarship 2004 and the Budapest Wagner Society Scholarship 2004.

She joined the Hungarian State Opera Studio for the 2004/2005 season and in May, appeared in the role of Oscar (Verdi: Un Ballo in Machera) at the Erkel Theatre.

Her repertoire ranges from the Baroque to contemporary works, including songs, oratorios and operatic roles.
