Baritone Tamás Busa was born in Csongrád in 1955 where he studied piano and oboe. He graduated from the István Tömörkény Music College, Szeged, in 1973 . From the age of 14, he also played the organ and in Budapest studied to be a cantor and choir conductor. This led to him working as a cantor in various Hungarian cities. In 1987, he began studying at the solo singer’s faculty of the Szeged Franz Liszt Music Academy with György Sinkó. He began his operatic career at the Szeged National Theatre, led by József Gregor. He made his debut in 1990 as Silvio (Leoncavallo: I Pagliacci). He became a soloist at the Hungarian State Opera House in 1997. Tamás Busa has sung baritone roles at the Szeged and Debrecen theatres as well as in numerous European countries and beyond.
