Nándor Szederkényi was born into a musical family, and began playing the violin at the age of five. He graduated in violin performance from the Liszt Academy in Budapest. At the conclusion of his studies, he won the highly coveted national Hubay Prize, which enabled him to spend some time at the Moscow Conservatory. During his studies, Mr. Szederkényi gave a series of public recitals throughout Hungary as a soloist. In Spetember of 1979 he won first prize at the International Szigeti Violin Competition in Budapest. A few months later, he left Hungary and was employed by the Philharmonia Hungarica in Germany. He has performed as a soloist throughout Europe. After going to Canada in 1985, he won the CBC National Radio audition in 1986. In 1989 he was invited by the Government of Osaka, Japan to be the priciple concert master of the newly founded Century Orchestra Osaka.
Mr. Szederkényi performs regularly as a soloist and has received praise worldwide. His activities as a performer and teacher have taken him to Australia, Japan Nort America and Europe. In 1995. he joined the Faculty at the School of Music at Brandon University.
