11 March 2023. 7:30 pm
Budapest Music center - Concert Hall
1093 Budapest, Mátyás utca 8.

The March concert of the UMZE Ensemble's series is organized around newly commissioned works by two composers representing different generations of Hungarian composers.
László Tihanyi's work
"Eternal Dream", which employs two narrators and two languages - Japanese and Hungarian - is based on Ryūnosuke Akutagawa´s short story
"Bisei no shin" (
“The Faith of Wei Cheng”) and its Hungarian translation by Judit Vihar.
Máté Balogh's composition for alto solo and chamber ensemble uses the text of the last chapter of James Joyce's famous novel
"Ulysses".
"Molly's Dream" presents the erotic dream of Molly Bloom, the wife of the main character of the book (written in an uncentered, associative thought-flow, in the style of prose, sprechgesang and song) as well as the three personalities of this female figure. The program is completed by
Toru Takemitsu's dreamlike "
Rain Spell" and
Hans Abrahamsen's ensemble-piece
"Wald", performed as a Hungarian premiere.
