In the 18-19th century, four-handed piano playing was considered to be the most common form of music at homes. The most intimate genre of chamber music, the only one where players play the same instrument, sit side by side, breathe together. This was no stranger to the Mozart-siblings, Nannerl and Wolfgang, who often amazed the audience with their four-handed music at concerts abroad.

The three composers of the concert are connected by much more than the synchronicity of time and the light, elegant and catchy "gallant" style. According to some sources, the reformer Haydn who created a new music world, played not only in string quartets, but did also four-hands with Mozart, for whom by the time he died, Johann Christian, the youngest Bach son in London was a benchmark.
